Abdul Ahad  - Paragraph

A renowned music composer and director and a promoter of Tegore songs, was born in 1920 in Rajshahi district. His paternal home was Fukurhati in Bhagna Upzila, Faridpur. He showed great interest in music from early in life. He took lessons in classical music from Ustand Balt and Ustad Manju Shaheb while he was studying  at the city college of Calcutta. He stood first in the Thumri and Ghazai in 1936 All-India Music Competition. Abdul Ahad took admission in Shantiniketan in 1938. He was the first Bengali Muslim to take training in Tagore songs in Shantiniketan in the life time of Rabindranath Tagore. After spending four years there, he joined his Master's Voice in Calcutta in 1941 as a music teacher. Famous artists like Pankaj Kumar Mallik and Hemanta Mukerjee recorded Tagore songs under his direction. After partition in 1947, Abdul Ahad joined Radio Pakistan Dhaka as a producer. He played a remarkable role of a composer in fulfilling the vacuum in the initial years after partition. He dominated the musical arena here as a composer of various types of music, particularly the modern and patriotic songs. He conducted a program called "Sangeet Shikkhar Ashar" on radio for about two decades. He was an extra ordinary talented composer and composed music for a few thousands of Bangla modern and patriotic  songs as well as  Urdu Geet and Ghazals. His patriotic songs during the 1965 Indo-Pak war were greatly inspiring.
