Load shedding means the discontinuation of electric supply. It is a great disturbance and creates a lot of problems in our daily life. It occurs when the generation of power is less than the demand. The causes of this shortage are many. Illegal connection, misuse of electricity, rapid growth of population etc, are some important reasons. Load shedding causes various problems. The running productive machines come to a standstill in mills and factories. The students sit idle in the dark closing their books. During load shedding the children and the old people suffer most. Load shedding during the day time creates hindrances to normal day time activities. Students cannot concentrate on their lessons. Office activities come to a stop. Serious operations in hospitals are suspended. Load shedding at night allows criminals to become active and perpetrate various crimes. To stop load shedding, some urgent measures should be taken. Adequate power generation should be ensured, illegal connection should be discontinued and the misuse should be prevented.
