Information technology (IT) is the use of computers and telecommunications equipment to store, retrieve, transmit and manipulate data. It also means other information distribution technologies such as television and telephones. Electronic computers began to appear in the early 1940s. Digital networks operate upon information technology. With the development of hi-tech communication media the world has come closer. We can now learn in an instant what is happening in the farthest corner of the world. There are a wide variety of advantages of information technology in education today. Technology can benefit, enrich and deepen basic skills of students. By allowing students, it helps them to grow up and become computer literate adults. This computer literacy helps young adults to obtain knowledge in a wide variety of fields. This usage helps to create a nation which is educated and successful. An important advantage of Information technology is its ability to reduce the consumption of paper in the office. Internal memos and reports can be exchanged electronically without using paper. Being a computer based messaging system, files prepared on computers can be instantly copied and easily exchanged. This facility has the potential of improving office efficiency considerably. However information technology has brought about a revolutionary change in the modern world of communication.
