The name of my village is Dhirasram. It is a small village in the district of Gazipur. It is at a distance of about three kilometers from the district town. The village is about four kilometers long and two kilometers broad. It stands on the bank of a small river called the Turag. Its climate is moderate.
Population of our village is about four thousand. 80 percent of the people are Muslims. There are a mosque and a temple in the village.
Quite a large number of the people are service-holders. There are doctors, teachers, and clerks. Some are businessmen. Most of the people are cultivators. There are potters, weavers, fishermen and blacksmiths also in the village. All villagers are peace loving.
A broad road passes through the village and other villages. Buses, rickshaws, bullock-carts catty people and load to the town and to other villages. There is a daily market. Every week two hats sit in the village.
On all sides of the village there are the corn fields, Paddy, jute, vegetables etc. are sold in the hats. They are taken to the towns by lorries.
About 40 p.c. of the people are literate. There are three M.A's and twenty B.A's in our Village. Not less than one hundred persons have passed the S.S.C. Examination.
There are a high school. a primary school and a madrasah in our village. Near the high school there is a branch post-office. There is also a bi-weekly market called hat here. It sits on Saturday and Wednesday. The villagers can buy their necessaries in the hat.
There is a health complex in the village. The general health of the people is good. We have two tube-wells in our village.
It is a prosperous village. We hope to make our village an ideal one.
