A national flag is the symbol of independence of a nation. Thus, our national flag signifies our independence. It is rectangular in shape. There is a red circle in the middle of a green background. The ratio of the length and width of the flag is 10:6. Red and green colours are used in it. The red symbolizes the sun of independence that we achieved at the cost of a sea of blood. The green symbolizes the youthfulness and the vivacity of our people. Late artist Kamrul Hasan designed it. It is hoisted on different national occasions. It was first hoisted on the premises of the university of Dhaka on the 2nd March, 1971. The flag creates in us a deep patriotic feeling. We feel proud of our identity as an independent nation. We feel that it represents our national identity. It is our sacred duty to show due respect and honour to our national flag.
